So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
