The dwellers in the wood (of Midian) denied the messengers (of Allah), 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 and do not deprive people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not act wickedly on earth by spreading corruption, 183 Have fear of the One who has created you and the generations that lived before you." 184 They replied: 'You are surely one of those bewitched. 185 You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars. 186 But in case you are speaking the truth, then make a segment of the sky to fall upon us." 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 But they gave him the lie. And thereupon suffering overtook them on a day dark with shadows: and verily, it was the suffering of an awesome day! 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 191
