The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
