The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
