Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say thou: it hath been revealed unto me that a company of the jinn listened, and said, verily we have listened to a Recitation wondrous. 1 Which guideth unto righteousness, so we believe in it and we ascribe no partner unto our Lord. 2 and that “He – exalted be His Majesty – has not taken to Himself either a wife or a son”; 3 And the foolish among us were wont to forge lies against Allah exceedingly. 4 And that we thought that men and jinn did not utter a lie against Allah: 5 And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. 6 'And they thought as you thought, that Allah will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns). 7 And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. 8 'We used, indeed, to sit there in (hidden) stations, to (steal) a hearing; but any who listen now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 we cannot tell if this bodes evil to those who dwell on earth or whether their Lord intends to guide them. 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 "'And withal, we have come to know that we can never elude God [while we live] on earth, and that we can never elude Him by escaping [from life]. 12 Hence, as soon as we heard this [call to His] guidance, we came to believe in it: and he who believes in his Sustainer need never have fear of loss or injustice. 13 And there are among us some who have surrendered (to Allah) and there are among us some who are unjust. And whoso hath surrendered to Allah, such have taken the right path purposefully. 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 If they had followed the Path We would give to them abundant water to drink, 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 Mosques belong to Allah, so do not call to anyone else, other than Allah. 18 Do not prostrate before anyone other than Him. When the servant of God (Muhammad) preached (his message) the jinn would all crowd around him. 19
