Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim 1 I swear by the Book that makes things clear: 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 And verily, [originating as it does] in the source, with Us, of all revelation, it is indeed sublime, full of wisdom. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 Many a prophet had We sent to the earlier communities, 6 No Prophet came to them whom they did not mock. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride, 12 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful. 15
