۞ Before this We gave Abraham his guidance. We knew him well. 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They said: we found our fathers the worshippers thereof. 53 He said, "Both you and your fathers have certainly been in error." 54 They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 They said, “Therefore bring him in front of the people, perhaps they may testify.” 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you? 66 Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah; what! do you not then understand? 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 And they wished to cause him harm, so We made them the greatest of losers. 70 and We delivered him, and Lot, unto the land that We had blessed for all beings. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob as an additional gift, making each of them righteous. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 We admitted him to Our Mercy, he was among the righteous. 75
