Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Indeed We sent Nooh towards his people saying that, “Warn your people before the painful punishment comes upon them.” 1 He said: "O my people, I warn you clearly 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said: “My Lord, I called my people by night and by day, 5 “So for them, my calling them increased their fleeing away.” 6 "And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. 7 “I then called them openly.” 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 He will let loose the sky upon you in abundance 11 increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 when He has created you in stages? 14 Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other, 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 God made you grow from the earth. 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 "'And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out), 19 That you may follow therein roads of passage.' " 20
