The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and banana trees, 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
