The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 on raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
