The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 Then he approached and descended 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart did not deny, what it saw. (The Holy Prophet was bestowed with seeing Allah – see also preceding verses 8, 9, 10.) 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
