۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
