The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
