The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 and flee from the statues! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he thought; 21 frowned and scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
