Nay! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens they will question 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
