The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 and gathered his people together 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
