The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
