He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
