He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and in awe of God 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted and holy, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
