The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the shining star -- 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
