۞ It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her. And when he covers her, she carries a light burden and continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, they both invoke Allah, their Lord, "If You should give us a good [child], we will surely be among the grateful." 189 But when He vouchsafes them a healthy child, they attribute to Him partners regarding what Allah had bestowed upon them. Subliminally exalted is Allah above that which they associate with Him. 190 What, do they associate that which creates nothing and themselves are created, 191 They have no power to help others. nor can they help themselves. 192 If you call them to guidance, they will not follow you. It is the same whether you call them or you are silent. 193 Indeed those whom you (the disbelievers) worship besides Allah are slaves like you – so call them and they may answer you, if you are truthful! 194 Have they feet on which they can walk? Have they hands with which they can grasp? Have they eyes with which they can see? Have they ears with which they can hear? Say [O Muhammad]: 'Invoke all those to whom you ascribe a share in Allah's divinity, then scheme against me and grant me no respite. 195 Surely my guardian is Allah, Who revealed the Book, and He befriends the good. 196 Those whom you invoke, other than Him, cannot help you, nor can they help themselves' 197 And if ye call them towards guidance they will not hear and thou wilt behold them looking at thee, but they see not. 198 Be tolerant; enjoin what is right; and avoid the ignorant. 199 If you are instigated by the Devil to evil seek refuge in God, for God hears all and knows everything. 200 Lo! those who ward off (evil), when a glamour from the devil troubleth them, they do but remember (Allah's Guidance) and behold them seers! 201 Their brethren plunge them further into error and cease not. 202 And when you bring them not a revelation they say: Why do you not forge it? Say: I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord; these are clear proofs from your Lord and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe. 203 When the Qur'an is recited listen to it in silence. You may perhaps be blessed. 204 And remember your Lord within yourself humbly and fearing and in a voice not loud in the morning and the evening and be not of the heedless ones. 205 Indeed, those who are near your Lord are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, and they exalt Him, and to Him they prostrate. ۩ 206
