We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures. 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in sport. 38 We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42
