The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
