The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 thy robes purify 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
