The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 And the day resplendent 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
