The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 The Byzantians have been overcome. 2 In the nearer land, and they, after their defeat will be victorious 3 In a few years (less than ten). God's is the imperative first and last. On that day the believers will rejoice 4 With the help of Allah; He helps whomever He wills; and only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 5 The promise of Allah! Allah does not fail His promise, yet most people do not know. 6 They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware. 7 Have they not inwardly pondered – that Allah has not created the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, except with truth and a fixed term? And indeed many people deny the meeting with their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled in the earth and seen how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than these in prowess, and dug up the earth, and built on it in greater abundance than these have built on it, and there came to them their apostles with clear arguments; so it was not beseeming for Allah that He should deal with them unjustly, but they dealt unjustly with their own souls. 9 And once again: evil is bound to be the end of those who do evil by giving the lie to God's messages and deriding them. 10
