Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
