The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
