Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 “That no bearer of a burden shall bear the burden of another, 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 And that it is He Who causeth to laugh and causeth to weep. 43 And that it is He Who gave death and gave life? 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 and covered them with torment. 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
