And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 “He is just a man who has fabricated a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe him.” 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 God said, "Before long they will be filled with regret." 40 Then the shout laid hold of them in truth, and We made them a refuse; so away with the wrong-doing people! 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 Every nation has an appointed life span. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
