The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
