Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 Noah said, "My people, I am warning you plainly. 2 "That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me, 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 'My Lord' said he, 'night and day I have called my nation, 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 "So I have called to them aloud; 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving, 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 ‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ 15 and has placed the moon in them as a light, and the sun as a radiant lamp? 16 "'And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]: 17 and [then] He will bring you forth [from It] in resurrection. 18 And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet, 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
