And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
