Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 and raised couches, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions lined up 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
