And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error." 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
