And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 You and your fathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor a true friend; 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
