The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 Living therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
