He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 So you are after him! 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 These verses are a reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
