The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
