In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
