The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
