The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 He verily will be content. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
