The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
