The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
