Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
