Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha Mim 1 By this luminous Book. 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 And Verily, it (this Quran) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of Wisdom. 4 Should We divert this Good Counsel from you because you are a people immersed in extravagance? 5 And how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples, 6 but whenever a prophet came to them, they mocked him, 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 If you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?", they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All Knowing One has created them." 9 (It is) He who made the earth to be a cradle for you and made in it ways for you, in order that you are guided. 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 It is He who has created everything in pairs and the ships and cattle for you to ride, 12 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), 13 And lo! unto our Lord we surely are returning. 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
