By no means! By the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 a warning to humankind, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens they will question 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 running away from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
