The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
