The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 That "Go to Firaun - he has rebelled." 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
