He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 wife and sons, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
