He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
True are the words of God the Almighty.
