He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 For him who does not care, 5 you attend to him, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
